I was so honored to be included in the Cashiers Showhouse this year. Every year the showhouse is organized by the Cashiers Historical Society with Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles and benefits the Cashiers Community Center. We designed “The Music Room” (the instruments consisted of a bowl of harmonicas and a violin) which is one of the owner’s favorite rooms. She is a musician and she used to sing and play the piano and entertain guests all of the time in this room.
I took a risk on this project that I have never done before… I did not see the room in person until the day I showed up to INSTALL it! I know that sounds crazy, but thanks to some good friends who photographed and dimensioned every little detail of it for me everything turned out fine. And, it was not until the 5 hour drive up there that I began to question my own judgement!

This is the room before we started. Now do you see one of the reasons I was so worried!? The floor used to be painted red and we designed this pattern and had it painted without looking at the paint samples in the room. Thank goodness the floor and the walls and the ceiling all worked together!

I love to create my own color schemes by introducing unexpected colors into a space. I did this by bringing in a burnt orange color in the B.Viz pillows and the antique lanterns to contrast with the window treatment fabric.

One of the ways that I like to add interest to a room is by using special antiques mixed with comfortable upholstery. Fortunately, I had so many wonderful friends let me borrow things from their shops.
